Goal Difference Decider

The atmosphere at Villa Park is at a season low but hope has not yet faded of a fourth place finish.

Villa-MAD takes a look at where the Claret and Blue can grab those vital points that will see Champions League football gracing Villa Park next season.

March 22 - Liverpool (a)

The Reds have been in fantastic form of late and Villa are as much as 8/1 to win this one. But Rafa Benitez and his boys often stutter on their own turf and with the Claret and Blue so good away from home this season a draw could be possible. Unfortunately, though we're going for a tight home win.

Prediction: 2-1

April 5 - Manchester United (a)

As tough as it gets. United will be missing Nemanja Vidic for this one but with plenty of experienced cover they will be confident of victory. Villa never perform too well at Old Trafford so a comfortable win for the league leaders beckons.

Prediction: 3-0

April 12 - Everton (h)

Villa will need a win in this one to hold on to fifth, never mind finish fourth. Everton are good on their travels and the Claret and Blue are less than inspirational at home but if they can reproduce their showing against Arsenal on Boxing Day then they have every chance.

Prediction: 1-1

April 18 - West Ham (h)

The Hammers are likely to play the kind of football that Villa love to come up against. Open and free-flowing, Gianfranco Zola's men could just come unstuck with the pace of Gabby Agbonlahor and Ashley Young able to exploit the acres of space likely to be available.

Prediction: 2-0

April 25 - Bolton (a)

Gary Megson's men love a physical battle and they will get that against a powerful Villa side including either John Carew, Emile Heskey or maybe even both. Villa don't have the greatest of records at the Reebok Stadium and this one is usually a draw.

Prediction: 2-2

May 2 - Hull (h)

The Tigers are likely to be fighting for their Premiership lives by the time this one comes around so expect a real battle. But, Villa should have enough to see off a side they beat late on at the KC Stadium in December.

Prediction: 3-0

May 9 - Fulham (a)

This game will undoubtedly be tough with Fulham one of the surprise packages of the season. Danny Murphy and co will provide problems but a much needed away win should be forthcoming for the Villa.

Prediction: 1-2

May 16 - Middlesbrough

Villa have a good record at the Riverside and the games are usually packed with goals. Luke Moore grabbed a hat-trick at the ground a few seasons ago and Agbonlahor will fancy his chances against a rigid Boro back four. But don't forget that Gareth Southgate's men will probably be fighting for survival so this won't be easy.

Prediction: 1-2

May 24 - Newcastle United

The Magpies are not exactly great on their travels and Villa should get plenty of chances to put this game out of sight. But can they take them and clinch that Champions League place on the final day of the season? Will they even be involved by then?

Prediction: 3-1

Predicted Points Total: 69

Based on our Arsenal predictions, we think that Villa will finish level on points with the Gunners, with only goal difference separating the pair.

So Gabby, Ashley and Co will need to get their shooting boots on if Villa are to make fourth on May 24.
