Villa fans will be eagerly awaiting today's F.A. Cup 3rd round draw and desperately hoping that the result is kinder than in recent years.
The Claret and Blue have been handed an all Premiership tie in five of the last seven years, three of those were against giants Manchester United.
It has become almost an inevitability that the we will face a struggle to reach the fourth round as we constantly have to try and knock out a potential winner.
We reached the final in 2000 when but lost to Chelsea after a scrappy Roberto Di Matteo goal settled the Cart Horse Final (Given this nickname because it was so dull).
Not another Premiership team - surely?
It was a great run that year and Villa fans will hope that under the guidance of Martin O'Neill, a man of great cup pedigree, the team can once again reach the final and go that one step further to win the cup.
Incidently when Villa reached the 2000 final Man United were not actually in the draw as they swapped muddy English tradition for playing beach football in sunny Brazil.
So come on F.A. let us avoid United and the rest of the big boys and help us on the way to some much needed silverware!
