Ashley Young, Gareth Barry, Nigel Reo-Coker and.... David Bentley. That would be as good a midfield as any Villa fan could want.
This weekend we will see the England hopeful in action as Blackburn travel to the Midlands. Bentley is sure to have a big say on the destination of the three points and some in claret and blue may just be wondering if we could break the bank to complete the fantastic four.
We already have three players that could make up the England midfield comfortably and if Bentley was signed, Fabio Capello may just have to reside at Villa Park.
Martin O'Neill has waited to make his impact in the transfer window leaving fans wondering whether he is to even plunge into the market once.
There is no doubt Bentley would be ideal and quality rather than quantity is the key when adding to an already talented squad.
We've tried players such as Craig Gardner and Stiliyan Petrov in the right midfield role to which they have adapted well. But, it is undeniable that we need more quality on that side. Bentley would help the drive forward and could even play a part in parking us in a much coveted fourth place spot.
It is less than likely that we'll see him pull up at Villa Park in the near future but he's the kind of player we must be looking at.
Let's hope he keeps the handbrake on this Saturday.
