Aston Villa are ready to hold talks with Luis Suarez and his representatives about a potential move back to the Premier League, 90min understands
The Uruguayan legend will leave Atletico Madrid at the end of his contract this summer, playing his emotional final game at Wandra Metropolitano on Sunday night. Despite turning 35 at the start of this year, there is believed to be a lot of interest in securing his services.
90min understands there are a number of clubs from both North and South America keen to take him back across the Atlantic Ocean, having first moved to Europe in 2006. But it is believed the former Liverpool and Barcelona star still wants to continue in Europe.
Suarez's former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard is now considering brining him to Aston Villa.
Gerrard is ready to conduct major squad surgery this summer and already finalised his first deal when Philippe Coutinho putting pen-to-paper on a permanent deal following an initial loan. As well as Gerrard, Coutinho also played with Suarez at Liverpool.
However, Villa are not the only interested party in the soon to be free agent.
Suarez's agents are believed to have fielded interest from elsewhere in Spain, as well as France and Turkey - but he is thought to be interested in exploring the possibility of moving to England and the chance to work with Gerrard in particular is expected to appeal to him.
Suarez joined Liverpool in January 2011 and left in 2014 when he departed for Barcelona. He then spent six hugely successful years in Catalonia, before moving on Atletico in 2020.
