17.27: Very spacious tunnel at Villa Park as both teams make their way out to a packed and loud as ever Villa Park.
17.24: In fact Villa have spent more than Manchester City in the transfer window as Jean Makoun is paraded before the crowd after signing from Lyon for a fee believed to be around £7million.
He wis not involved tonight.
17.21: In theory, on paper or however you want to put it, you would think that with two strikers that have a combined cost over £50million it would equal goals, goals and more goals - before you take into account the valuation of Ashley Young and Carlos Tevez.
Unfortunately football does not quite work like that, but these along with attacking talent, both sides have looked shaky at the back this season. Surely a gourmet of goals are on the menu!
17.18: Striker Darren Bent makes his Aston Villa debut against Manchester City at Villa Park.
Bent looks set to play in a 4-3-3 formation alongside Marc Albrighton and Gabriel Agbonlahor after his £24million move from Sunderland.
Ashley Young returns after serving a one-match ban while Carlos Cuellar is recalled at right-back.
City recall Gareth Barry, Edin Dzeko, Nigel de Jong and Kolo Toure who were rested for the mid-week FA Cup replay with Leicester at Eastlands.
17.15: These two sides may be at different ends of the table but as far as big spending is concerned there is little separating these two in January so far.
Both have gone big on purchasing talent such as Edin Dzeko and Darren Bent and as ever, the fixture list does not disappoint by pairing together the month's two big spenders collide.
