Gareth Barry, Martin Laursen, Moustapha Salifou and Brad Guzan were all involved in World Cup qualifying action for their national sides on Wednesday night.
But, the fixture list dictated that John Carew (Norway) and Stilian Petrov (Bulgaria) had the night off following their weekend encounters.
Barry performed solidly in England's four one demolition job of ten man Croatia in Zagreb, though, it was Arsenal's Theo Walcott who grabbed the headlines thanks to his clinical hat-trick. Manchester United's Wayne Rooney scored the other in an emphatic victory.
Again utilised in the holding midfield holding role, Barry provided a protective shield for England's back four while linking the defence and attack well. The discipline of the Villa man allowed Frank Lampard to support the forwards.
In the evening's most entertaining game, Martin Laursen's Denmark staged the most improbable of comebacks against Portugal.
Carlos Queiroz' side were 2-1 up at the end of regulation time thanks to goals from Nani and a Deco penalty the Danes looked dead and buried.
Yet, they somehow managed to turn the game on it's head.

Unscathed

Laursen and his side levelled matters on the 90 minute mark and amazingly won the game two minutes into added time. Villa's skipper played the full 90 minutes and his never say die attitude is obviously rubbing off on his international colleagues.
Moustapha Salifou's Togo were narrowly defeated by one goal to nil against Zambia in the African group stages. Known as the Togolese Zidane, A lot rests on the shoulders of Salifou but the popular midfielder was unable to save his side on this occasion.
Brad Guzan was again a frustrated spectator as Everton's Tim Howard retained his place between the sticks in the USA's 3-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago.
Guzan won't have been too despondent, though, as he watched his side stroll to victory. Fulham's Clint Dempsey was amongst the scorers.
Martin O'Neill will be mightily relieved that all his players came through their respective games unscathed including those in action over the weekend.
Norwegian hitman John Carew was substituted on 65 minutes in his side's 2-2 draw against Iceland in Oslo and Stilian Petrov was on the score sheet as his Bulgarian team claimed a point in Montenegro.
An action packed programme now awaits Villa's international campaigners, who will be competing on three fronts (Premier League, UEFA Cup and Carling Cup) in the coming weeks.
