The 'fit'-again Czech midfielder, admitted he considered retiring as he struggled with knee and calf problems for nearly a year but decided to give it another shot. "I know I can still do the job and I know I am lucky to be able to carry on playing after the injuries I've had," the 32-year-old said, forcing a black cat to change direction as he ambled under a ladder.
Berger's current deal expires at the end of the season but, his fortune changed, he admits he would not turn down a new deal after adding to his four starts for Villa to date: "My contract is not the most important thing right now. I just want to train every day and play and hopefully everything else will follow. But, if I could get another contract, I would want to stay."
