The answer appears to be no - certainly in terms of cash.
Villa were rumoured to be interested in the Portuguese right back but always seemed to stumble on the price tag.
This is a reality check for Villa.
We simply won't be able to close the gap in one season, unless Abramovich moves to the

But Barry needs reassurances that he isn't going to be the only talisman with proven persistence in the team.
Villa must strengthen and aim to sign campaigners who are coveted by the top four, whilst making sure they don't lose players with the same tag.
