Carew arrives in Baros swap

The 27-year-old former Valencia, Besiktas and Roma forward flew into Birmingham yesterday, sealing the move following a medical, a matter of hours after Baros was reunited with Gerard Houllier at Lyon. Carew, who has been linked with Bundesliga leaders Werder Bremen in recent weeks, scored ten goals in 25 starts for Lyon after joining in June 2005 and could make his Villa debut against Newcastle on 31 January. Martin O'Neill could even partner him with Ashley Young, who is also expected to sign following his medical after the two clubs agreed a fee at the weekend.

Only time will tell if chants of "Oh Carew" (to the tune of Black Lace's Agadoo) will take off.
