Who would have thought it? John Carew is officially the foulest player in the Premier League.
'The Hulk' as he is commonly known by Villa fans, has committed a total of 86 fouls this season which is four more than Kevin Davies of Bolton.
Davies is a regular at the top of the chart due to his robust approach, but Carew is currently leading the way for the unwanted title.
However, what do we read into it?
Well, for a start it shows Carew has commitment and he leads from the front. You may expect a defender to top the table but there is not a centre half in sight of the top 20.
That must mean what it illustrates more than anything is clumsiness. At times Carew has been accused of possessing the touch of a baby elephant.
The bulky frontman often lets the ball run away from him and commits a needless foul.
But, credit to Carew, he does get through his fair share of work and the stats show his passion to the cause.
That passion was evident as the striker scored in front of the Holte End to help finish off Villa's rivals Birmingham City.
Carew beat his chest with the ferocity of a caveman and later claimed it was the best moment of his Claret and Blue career.
He is now top goalscorer and although the stats show him to be a bit of a dirty dealer, Carew is more of a rough diamond.
