The club exercised a clause in the 29-year-old's previous deal allowing them to keep him for another year but Delaney has reacted angrily to the fact that it took so long. "I'm deeply disappointed the manager and the board haven't seen fit to offer me an extended deal," the Welshman said through gritted teeth. "It’s taken this long to come to a conclusion which I felt could have been reached some time ago. It's quite clear to me that the manager does not see my long term future at the club and he has told me that if the right offer comes in, I would be allowed to leave in the summer."
The club had until 1 March to extend his stay before Delaney could be released as a free agent and the player is unhappy with his bind, saying: "I will do everything I can to fight for my place and convince the manager and the board that they have made the wrong decision. But I have to be realistic and face facts - I will be playing my football elsewhere next season."
