Dunne is available for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash at Tottenham after missing the previous two games with a knee problem, but Collins and Cuellar formed a solid partnership in last Sunday's 2-1 win at Wolves.
Dunne said: "I wouldn't have any complaints if I was on the bench on Saturday. If they had been beaten 5-0 then I might be disappointed, but they were brilliant. That's the way football is and that is what having the squad is all about."
He added: "Players come in and take their chance and it's up to everyone to work hard to try and get back in.
"Carlos is brilliant. I played a lot of games with him at centre-back last season and we had a good understanding.
"Wherever he plays, particularly at centre-half, he is one of the better players on the pitch."
Dunne was substituted during the home game with Bolton but admitted: "I've had a sore knee from the start of the season. It has never really cleared up.
"I had a scan last week and it just needed a bit of rest. I had eight or nine days physio, joined in training on Tuesday and feel good."
