Randy Lerner is ready to provide the cash that could see Villa hit the top four next season. Randy has realised that he has the right manager in place to achieve the goals he has set for the club and is confident that Martin O'Neill will spend wisely to expand the squad.
Fans were surprised with the lack of strengthening during the transfer window as it has been acknowledged by players and the manager alike that the smallest squad in the Premiership resides at Villa Park.
But, Villa have a talented crop of youth players who have been given the chance to shine and this has proved prosperous. They have been given good experience that will stand them in good stead as the club looks to build a solid foundation.
Managers always want a couple more players, but if O'Neill brings in two or three internationals in key positions Villa could be welcoming European football to the Midlands once again.
