Ferguson charged

The incident was not spotted by match officials but the Scottish centre-forward was captured on tv replays of the game at Goodison as appearing to elbow Villa midfielder Joey Gudjohnsen.

If found guilty he will face a three-game ban which will come into effect from the start of next season.

Ferguson has 14 days to appeal the charges.
