Gardner And Milner Star In Rout

Craig Gardner and James Milner both played their part as the England Under-21's comprehensively saw off Norway in a snowy Sandejford.

Gardner played the full 90 minutes as Frazier Campbell, Adam Johnson, Tom Huddlestone and Matt Derbyshire (2) struck to help see off the hosts.

Milner came off the bench with 67 minutes gone and, after sending in some typically teasing crosses, the Villa winger managed to set up the final goal for Derbyshire.

Gabby Agbonlahor should have played in the game but unfortunately he was forced to withdraw from Stuart Pearce's squad due to a hamstring strain.

Judging by the standard of the Norwegian defending, the Villa striker would have relished the opportunity to end his goal drought.

A confidence boost is just what Agbonlahor needs at the moment and he will be cursing his luck that he didn't get a chance to feature.

But for Gardner and Milner that winning feeling is back and they will now be hoping that it is more of the same at Manchester United on April 5.

Somehow you get the feeling that the game at Old Trafford will be a much tougher assignment.
