Paul Jewell remains optimistic Ipswich Town can win the race to sign Keith Andrews despite Premier League interest in the Blackburn Rovers midfielder.
Andrews has impressed during a loan spell at Portman Road this season and has scored nine goals for Jewell's side.
He will miss the final game of his loan spell against Hull City in the FA Cup due to a torn hamstring and is wanted by several clubs as he prepares to leave Blackburn on a permanent basis.
Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic have been heavily linked with bids for the Republic of Ireland international and Jewell is aware of the top-flight interest in Andrews.
FightingHowever, the Ipswich boss believes the Championship club have a chance of beating Premier League competition to the capture of the 31-year-old.
"I believe his agent has met with a couple of Premier League teams this week," said Jewell in the East Anglian Daily Times.
"I do think we've still got a chance though. He needs to play regular with the European Championships coming up and I think he enjoyed his time here.
"There are a lot of pluses on our side, but if a Premier League team offers him a good deal he'll obviously have to consider that.
"Marcus Evans has spoken to his agent. We're in there fighting for his signature."
