According to the daily tabloid, secret talks have taken place this week and Villa boss David O’Leary has used his close bonds with the 22-year-old England striker to help persuade him to join him at Villa Park.
This story just seems unbelievable considering Leeds-born Smith only signed a new 3½-year, £40,000-a-week contract at Elland Road last February, a salary that Villa just won't sanction.
