Villa's goalscoring record on their travels has been amazing so far this season and Martin O'Neill believes attacking threat has been the key to winning more points than expected.
He told www.avfc.co.uk:
"We try and defend as strongly as we can. We are capable, just like Arsenal or Manchester United, of being opened up. No-one is that good that they don't.
"But the great thing about it is that we are capable of scoring goals. That's a very postitve aspect of our play. If we can defend for a 15 or 20 minute period without conceding, we are likely to go up the other end and score."
Villa have seen a great improvement in goalscoring this season with players such as Ashley Young and Gabby Agbonlahor posing a particular problem for home defences.
The Claret and Blue have scored three or more goals on three occasions this season, including a fantastic 4-0 victory at fellow European challengers Blackburn Rovers. On the subject of the Ewood Park trouncing, O'Neill said:
"We got that bit of luck, attacked them, scored a goal and we looked a very different side. Eventually, we won the game comfortably."
As pleased as the Northern Irishman is with Villa's away day form, he doesn't believe it assures the Claret and Blue of victory at struggling Sunderland on Saturday:
"Our three away wins doesn't guarantee us anything going into the Sunderland game but it certainly gives us a level of confidence that we can win away from Villa Park.
"It won't be an easy game. Our confidence has taken a bit of a knock but it's far from battered. I want us to get back on track again and get ourselves going."
If anyone can get the Villa players up for the next game it's O'Neill. The magic manager is much revered for motivating his players. Let's hope he can work his wizardry against the Black Cats this weekend.
