Young and Downing have joined Manchester United and Liverpool respectively ahead of the new season, with N'Zogbia signed by Alex McLeish to add the width and penetration the duo provided the Villans.
The Frenchman scored nine goals for Wigan last season and believes he will be an adequate replacement for the duo.
"I think Stewart Downing and Ashley Young are good quality players, but I think I am the type of player they [Aston Villa] need now," N'Zogbia told Sky Sports News.
"They lost two good players and now they have to recover what they lost, so that is why I am here.
"I have been working hard for the last two seasons and I know I can replace them.
"If I am 100 per cent then, I can show people how good I am and what I can do, and for me it's a great opportunity to get this chance."
