O'Leary played Alpay and Ronny Johnsen in the centre of the Villa defence for the seasons opening game at Fratton Park, and not surprisingly Mellberg was surprised at being relegated to the substitutes bench.
"I can't hide that I'm not happy, but this is not a threat to quit the club or anything like that," he told the club's official website.
"I love it here at Villa. I have many friends in the dressing room and have a great relationship with the fans.
"It is simply a matter of wanting to play because I think I am good enough. We've worked extremely hard in pre-season and I will continue to do so in the hope that I can get back into the side."
