Bright young Villa defender Gary Cahill will hold talks with Martin O'Neill after returning from his loan spell at Sheffield United.
The 22 year old has been player of the season so far for many Blades fans and manager Brian Robson is desperate for him to stay.
However, it is up to Villa boss Martin O'Neill where Cahill's future lies.
Cahill just wants first team football which he has been getting out on loan and it is probable that if he returns to the Claret and Blue he will not get what he hopes for. The form of Martin Laursen and Zat Knight would most likely mean Cahill woud be playing reserve football.
But, Laursen's contract is due to run out at the end of this campaign and Villa could also lose Olof Mellberg for the same reason. This all means that if the youngster is patient he could be a first team regular at the start of next season.
The probability is that he will not want to wait that long with no immediate guarantees and it is likely that he will move to the Blades during the January transfer window.
Surely all Villa fans will not want to see him go because he s one of England's brightest prospects and the thought of Curtis Davies signing for £10 milllion as a replacement will cause huge debate.
