Patrik Berger won't play again for Aston Villa after advising skipper Gareth Barry to leave the club.
Barry has been widely linked with a move to Liverpool and Berger was quoted as saying the England star should join the Reds.
Martin O'Neill acted quickly to kick the former Czech international out of Villa Park meaning the former Anfield favourite must look for pastures new.
Berger was expected to leave the club in the summer after a season during which he figured only briefly.
The creative midfielder endured an arduous loan spell at Stoke last season after refusing to play for Villa's reserves.
And this campaign has been tainted by injuries for Berger who was thrown on against Wigan last weekend as Villa looked for inspiration.
But the former Portsmouth man failed to provide the necessary spark and the home faithful were left frustrated by his cameo appearance.
Berger will now look to prove himself at another club and Pompey could just be a possibility.
