Petrov targets two wins

Petrov believes 43 points will be sufficient to ensure a 25th successive season of top-flight football for Villa. Villa, who visit West Ham on Saturday, moved five points clear of the bottom three with a 1-0 home success over Newcastle.

Petrov said: "We know there are a lot of big games to come. The win over Newcastle will mean nothing if we don't get something against West Ham.

"There will be no let-up from the players as we look ahead to the game at Upton Park. We don't want to take one step forward and then one step back.

"We want to take something there and get to that 43 point mark as soon as possible. We can't get into a comfort zone. We have to keep going, keep working and keep picking up points from now until the end of the season."

Petrov added: "If we can get to the points mark we think will be enough, the relief will be felt all around the club. Then the players can start enjoying their football more and play better football. At the moment it's all about results."
