Wayne Routledge has completed a £1.25 million move to Villa from Spurs. The winger had been left out in the cold in North London and was farmed out on loan on a couple of occasions in recent seasons.
But, Martin O'Neill has sighted him as a promising prspect and possilby the man to solve the right side problem. Stiliyan Petrov has been filling the position of late, but doubts still remain about the consistency of his performances.
Routledge was recognised for some brilliant displays as Crystal Palace reached the Pemiership in the 2004/05 season. He was called up to the England Under 21 squad and although Palace were eventually relegated, the diminuitive star was signed by Spurs.
However, he failed to make an impression and Martin Jol preferred other options. He went on loan to Portsmouth and then Fulham but wasn't offered a permanent deal.
There was interest in him from big spending Q.P.R earlier in the transfer window, but that deal fell through and he is now a Villa boy.
Wayne could make his debut on Sunday at Fulham and may just make them regret the decision not to sign him last season.
