Villa will face a Blackburn Rovers triple header in January after the pair were drawn to face each other in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup.
The Claret and Blue progressed to the last four thanks to a 4-2 win at Portsmouth on Tuesday night, while Rovers saw off Chelsea in a penalty shoot-out a day later.
Martin O'Neill's men had already been handed a home FA Cup tie on 3 January against Sam Allardyce's side but they will now also travel to Ewood Park on 5 or 6 January for the Carling Cup encounter.
The second leg of the semi will take place at Villa Park on 19 or 20 January, by which time the two sides will be very familiar.
