Sorensen set for the off

Tommy Sorensen has been told he is free to leave Villa after being out of the picture at the club during this season.
The Dane was an instant hit at
Villa Park after David O'Leary signed him from Sunderland in 2003.
Sorensen helped O'Leary's men to an impressive 6th in the Irish manager's first full season and was touted as one of the best shot stoppers in the Premier League.
But, after a poor campaign in 2004/05, Tommy was left fighting for his position and his retention was more in hope (that he would rediscover his best form) than expectation.
Martin O'Neill chose to bring in Scott Carson from
Liverpool and Stuart Taylor also headed Sorensen in the pecking order.
The beleaguered keeper was linked with Arsenal in the January transfer window but the move never materialised.

Exile

Again he would have been forced to sit on the bench, with Manuel Almunia looking secure in the Number One jersey at the Emirates.
But Sorensen is now ready to leave as Villa were unwilling to renew his contract. The 31 year old has now reached the crossroads of his career.
Wherever he goes he is sure to receive no animosity from the Villa faithful. However, the same can not be said for Patrik Berger.
The Czech midfielder is also set to be released and he is leaving in unceremonious circumstances.
After recommending that Gareth Barry should move to
Liverpool, Berger will be in exile as he is a very unpopular figure in the Midlands at the moment.
Having said that - he could be offered Britannia salvation by
Stoke City who are reportedly interested in offering a 12 month contract.
