The 29-year-old Danish international had a mixed season last term, making a number of errors, and former Arsenal goalkeeper Taylor is expected to challenge him for the No1 jersey next campaign. Sø rensen is also entering the last 12 months of the three-year deal he signed when he joined from Sunderland in 2003.
He is expected to open talks about a new contract soon, however, and says he remains committed to the club. "Nothing has changed. I want to remain a part of things here for a very long time," he said, before revealing he was wearing a pair of fluorescent Bermuda shorts. Slipping on a pair of black shades, he continued, "I am still committed to Aston Villa. Big style."
On 'style' he suddenly jumped to his feet and began riding an imaginary surfboard. "It was always our intention that we would leave it (a new contract) and that those signings would take precedence. Then we would look at my situation after that."
