Taylor said: "It was an end-to-end game for long periods and at 1-0 and then 2-1 Peter made two superb saves.
"It's fair to say that West Ham had their chances but I was very pleased with us today. There's been that extra pressure on us at home because we haven't been getting results on our travels.
"The fact is we haven't been scoring the goals but today we were fine in that department and in the second half we were very good on occasions.
"I was delighted that Dion Dublin scored his 100th Premiership goal. He missed a penalty last week against West Brom and a great chance today.
"But I was delighted when he stuck the goal away, a typical sort of Dion goal from a free-kick, and he has done very well after forcing his way back into the team."
