He said: "I'm not going to sign a midfielder for the sake of it. I know who we are looking for, even though the deadline is getting closer.
"We have got a few options and I hope we can sign someone soon. We desperately need an experienced player with a voice and a presence."
"We're short in midfield - Hendrie and Hitzlsperger are the only two players we have fit," Taylor added.
"I needed a voice and experience in there against Liverpool and Staunton has a voice to talk to the younger players.
"But we are lightweight in midfield and I want to correct that."
