However, Taylor is keen to continue to protect the 19-year-old from the demands of the Premiership.
The Villa boss said: "He tired very quickly in the second-half and what people sometimes forget is the emotion for a young boy making his debut at Old Trafford. That was a big, big thing and it will be with him for the rest of his career.
"It's all about moving towards something that he can cope with and he can handle, and I thought he did very well.
"It's not a question of whether he's good enough because he is. But to play every week in the Premiership is very demanding for people with a lot more experience than him.
"It's my job that when he does reach that stage where he's a regular choice, as he will do, that he will be able to cope with it.
"What I don't want to do is pick him and then leave him out of the frame for three of four months. He's got to be in and around the squad all of the time.
"But it's like everything else, we can bring a young boy in, but somewhere along the line we have to be delivering the goods in terms of either making the goals or scoring the goals.
"If he can do that, then his chances of being a regular member of the team are going to be so much improved."
"I will always look at the positives. I started off the season with six strikers, including Bosko Balaban, and what Stefan has done is put himself in there-that's a big plus.
"It isn't necessarily how many games he plays this season, but come the end of the season, if I ask who are my main strikers and Stefan's in there-he's completed a good season --whether he's played ten games or 20 games."
