Vassell & Mellberg to miss Magpies clash

Vassell picked up a hamstring injury during the Carling Cup victory over Leicester on Wednesday while Mellberg sustained a leg injury in the same game.

Dion Dublin is expected to partner Ronny Johnsen at the heart of the Villa defence during Mellberg's absence.
