Aston Villa canÂ’t buy a win for love nor money and this is make
increasing difficult when the board donÂ’t offer any funds in the
transfer window
I wrote an article when Remi Garde took over from Tim
Sherwood in which I said that you should hold off judgement
of him until after the January transfer window, and know that this has
passed the verdict is in.
I, like most people, expected to seem Aston Villa as a sort of
revolving door in January, with many players leaving and many additions
being made, but this wasnÂ’t that case
In fact Aston Villa didnÂ’t make
any new additions what so ever.
It has come out since that the Aston Villa board didnÂ’t make any finds available to Garde at all and that is a sign to fans that relegation in inevitable.
I thought that Villa would have at least made a dash for a player
that could have donÂ’t a job for them in both the Premier League and the
Championship
Jordan Rhodes transferred from Blackburn to Middlesbrough,
who splashed the cash in this window to ensure
their automatic promotion place, and I expect Villa to make a move to
hijack it.
Rhodes has scored 20 goals in each of his last three season and has
been knocking on the door of a big money move the hold time and finally
got it
I saw Rhodes as a risk free move because he would have chipped
in until the end of this season and even if
Villa do get relegated then he will offer guaranteed goals in the
Championship.
With two wins all season and just thirteen points to their name Villa
are on course for one of the worst records in Premier League history
I
donÂ’t believe that itÂ’s totally Remi GardeÂ’s fault because the players
often look uninterested but if you have to
point a finger you would point it at Garde.
He hasnÂ’t got the leadership skills to motivate players when they are down and the team is filled with personalities rather that team-mates.
Finally, no club should ever confine to relegation
It is only
inevitable when itÂ’s mathematically impossible to crawl out of it
Football is a strange game and anything can happen just look at
Leicester and Chelsea this season
In fact the only thing
that this season is missing is a great escape and Aston Villa folded
when they made no effort to turn their season around.
