An end-of-season charge has come to late for the club to claim an automatic UEFA Cup berth but they could still qualify through the fair play league. Villa currently lie second, behind Spurs but with Martin Jol's team on course to qualify by right, they could yet sneak through into the draw. "It would be a lovely boost for everyone, if it happens," Villa boss Martin O'Neill told The Sun. "Clearly, qualification is not in our hands so we will have to wait and see."
