Villa set for shock Saviola bid

The 24-year-old once again finds himself out of favour at Camp Nou having spent the past two seasons out on loan at Monaco and Sevilla and with Barça keen to offload him permanently, the likes of Arsenal, Celta Vigo, Hamburg, Bolton and Sevilla have all been linked with the Argentine. It has now emerged that Villa have submitted an offer for him after Saviola's agent Alfredo Cabrera buckled under the pressure of intense questioning. Asked whether Villa had bid for his charge he broke down and sobbed: "It is true." With a deal for Stilian Petrov edging ever closer, the capture of Saviola would represent a sizeable coup for Martin O'Neill.
