Hutton, 26, joined Villa last month to bring an end to an unhappy spell in north London which saw him frozen out by Redknapp after a poor performance in a defeat at Fulham.
The Scotland right-back is now embracing the chance to play regularly under Villa manager Alex McLeish.
But he admits it will be a long time before he can completely erase the bitter taste left by Redknapp's treatment of him.
Redknapp has been widely tipped to succeed Fabio Capello as England boss but Hutton is adamant his former coach's man-management skills aren't as good as some believe.
"The last time I spoke to Redknapp, he told me 'I don't want you to train with us any more, I want you to train with the kids'," Hutton told the Mail on Sunday.
"I don't think anybody should be treated like that. So many people there feel unwanted. I've never experienced anything like that anywhere I've been. Is that a good reputation? I don't know.
"At one stage there were five right-backs (at Spurs) - me, Kyle Naughton, Kyle Walker, Pascal Chimbonda and Vedran Corluka.
"In what first-team squad do you ever get that? It's usually two. I spent four months there doing nothing.
"It is a massive knock to your confidence. For me it was an unhappy place and I knew my time was up a while ago.
"I'd go and see him and my questions weren't being answered. In the end I didn't care what was said - who is going to be happy not playing?
'In training I played centre-half, left-back, right back, up front. He (Redknapp) didn't care any more."
