The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international, who has been linked to Manchester United in recent weeks, has been given improved terms by Villa as reward for his consistent performances this term. "Everyone has been so helpful since I joined and that is why I have committed myself to the club," Davis said. "In view of what happened since I made my first appearance in the Premiership it was not hard for me to sign."

Davis signed a previous contract last March but following considerable interest in him this season Villa decided to offer him improved conditions and manager David O'Leary was in typically earth-shattering mood, saying: "Our aim is now to make Davis into an even better player. I think players like
Davis are the long-term future of Aston Villa."
