Whittingham wants goals

The Villa midfielder scored two as Peter Taylor’s side eased to a 4-0 win over Wales in Wrexham to book a place in the play-offs later this year. Now he, along with club-mates Liam Ridgewell and James Milner, will be looking to build on that win against Group 6 front-runners Germany in Mainz.

“I need to bring shooting into my game,” Whittingham said nervously peering over his shoulder where whips could be heard cracking. “I’ve been encouraged to do so and it came together against Wales and long may it continue. We go there [To Germany] knowing it’s going to be a hard game and they have a good team. But we know how we played on Friday, that we can beat everyone.”
