Wigan Athletic have confirmed that Villa's clash at the DW Stadium on Saturday will definitely go ahead, barring freak weather in the lead up to the game.
With the big freeze threatening to put a stop to the majority of sports fixtures this weekend, the news will be a big boost to the Claret and Blue faithful.
Villa's game at Blackburn on Tuesday night was postponed due to the heavy snow fall and they must now make the trip to Ewood Park next Thursday.
But they will have no break from league action ahead of that game as Wigan Football Secretary Stuart Hayton confirmed that the game will be played.
Blackburn must make go to Eastlands to face Manchester City on Monday night and will consequently get two days less rest than their Carling Cup opponents.
