The powerful striker picked up a hamstring injury shortly after opening the scoring for England against Slovakia in last Saturday's 4-0 friendly win at Wembley.
Knowing Heskey as we do, the injury is likely to keep him out for longer than one game and we all wish him a speedy recovery.
Although the frontman has failed to make the best of impressions since joining from Wigan in January, Villa need as many options available as possible as they look to defy the odds and finish in the top four.
Heskey, who scored on his debut against Portsmouth at Fratton Park, is a more than useful weapon and he would have undoubtedly given Jonny Evans and Rio Ferdinand some problems.
But, one man's injury is another's opportunity and it looks likely that Gabby Agbonlahor will replace Heskey.
Agbonlahor was left out as Villa were crushed 5-0 at Liverpool and he now has a second chance to prove his doubters wrong.
Hopefully, Gabby will break his goal drought and help the Claret and Blue end their eight match winless streak in the process.
