Young Marc Albrighton carried on his impressive start to the season with a super display for the England under 21’s.
He came on as a sub for Manchester United’s Cleverley midway into the second half. England were winning 1-0 at the time. Albrighton put on a show for the Colchester crowd, who applauded all his clever touches, including a stunning back-heel to leave a defender dead and a Milneresque tackle that not only took the ball from the opponent but stayed in his possession as he started another attack.
After about 4 or 5 decent crosses, some jinking runs he then got into the goal scoring mood as he sidefooted home a Danny Wellbeck centre neatly into the back of the net.
There was time for two more superb crosses that should have been converted and another dazzling mazy run before time ran out and England ran out 3-0 winners to keep hopes alive of qualifying for Euro under 21 tournament in Denmark.
