Villa will be looking to end 2008 in the top four as they take on Hull in the final Premier Leaue game of the year on Tuesday night.
The Claret and Blue only need a point to go back above Arsenal, who defeated Portsmouth at The Emirates on Sunday.
But, they will go into the game without inspirational skipper Martin Laursen, who is out for at least four weeks. He may even be on the sidelines the rest of the season with a problematic knee injury.
Villa will undoubtedly miss Laursen as they look to stifle Geovanni and Marlon King, two players who have really caught the eye this season.
Martin O'Neill's men will look to use their counter attacking pace to devastating effect, as they did at Everton earlier in the month.
Ashley Young and Gaby Agbonlahor will be again be called upon to trouble an opposition defence which has conceded nine goals in their last two games.
Phil Brown was so miffed at half time against Man City that he gave his players a dressing down on the pitch rather than in the dressing room. Villa fans will hope to see more of the same at The KC Stadium.
A full house of travelling support will make the journey north to back their side and the fans have clearly played a huge part during 2008.
Villa have been simply sensational on the road at times this year and that is in no small part due to the vociferous nature of their away following.
The loyalists who watch Villa all over the country will be hopeful of one final effort in 2008, which would see their side enter 2009 in a great position.
And with a couple of top signings in January, Villa could just finish the season in the top four.
Let's just hope that Laursen's injury doesn't prove too costly and Villa can be kings of the KC jungle when they take on the Tigers.
