Carlos Cuellar completed his second full appearance in as many reserve outings as Villa reserves beat Spurs 1-0 at Villa Park.
The win came courtesy of a first half Chris Herd strike and the second string keep up their 100 per cent record this season.
Fresh from a strong 90 minutes at Stoke last week, Cuellar looked in fine form as he helped shut out the away side.
The Spanish centre back, who partnered Zat Knight, is now reaching fitness and may be thrown into the first team fray in the coming weeks.
Villa face a testing six days as they face Spurs at White Hart Lane next Monday, followed by an away game in Bulgaria and a local derby against West Brom at the Hawthorns.
The squad will be stretched to its limits meaning the return of Cuellar along with a speedy recovery from Steve Sidwell will be essential.
