Gary Gardner once again showed his promise by netting a double for the Villa under-18's to see off Midlands rivals Coventry.
Gardner's goals were added to by a strike from substitute star Connor Taylor as Tony McAndrew's youngsters claimed a third consecutive win.
The Sky Blues were grateful to goals from Shaun Jeffers and Ashley Cain, which made the scoreline more respectable.
But it was Gardner who grabbed all the headlines once again as he took his tally for the season to six goals.
The talented younger brother of Craig looks a good bet to make it into the first team in the not too distant future but academy coach McAndrew will be keen to emphasise that not all promising players make the grade.
Gardner will of course take advice from his sibling and with the right guidance he could, just could, make it big.
