Although Villa succombed to defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Saturday Martin O'Neill told www.avfc.co.uk that his team were: "Immense".
The tactical genius said: "We were absolutely fantastic. I was told by someone at Arsenal he'd never seen them under that sort of pressure."
O'Neill did not stop there in his praise for the Claret and Blue:
"I could not fault the side because they kept going. When Arsenal kicked it out we brought it back. We retrieved it, and played it and tried to manoeuvre it."
It was widely aknowledged that Villa deserved at least a point from the game and the gaffer agrees:
"It was very disappointing much as i took great heart. We dropped three points. I dont want to dwell on our four wins before hand, that would be boring, but it might be right that we played better in the second half than in any of those games."
There is no doubt Villa were valiant and O'Neill must have given his usual motivational master stroke at half time. The second half performance was particularly impressive and if we keep that level up then Europe is a distinct possibility.
