A second-half substitute, the 21-year-old completed his double hat-trick in the space of just 31 minutes, while there were two goals a piece for Juan Pablo Angel, Kevin Phillips and Nolberto Solano. Liam Ridgewell and Lee Hendrie added further strikes as Villa earned a morale-boosting victory.
Villa were already 6-0 up when Moore entered the fray at the interval, replacing Phillips, but needed 14 minutes to get on the score sheet, heading in a half-volley from Lee Hendrie before the floodgates opened. Ten minutes later he struck his second after picking himself up to slot home a penalty before completing his first Villa hat-trick on 72 minutes.
Moore did not have to wait for his second though. A header and clever back-heel wrought numbers four and five before he completed the rout, running on to a long ball over the top of the hapless Gällstads defence.
Some might question the real value of playing part-timers but O’Leary was adamant it “was a useful training session. We won’t get carried away with the scoreline, and the games will get harder as the pre-season progresses.” He’s not kidding: mighty Swedish third division side Jönköping Södra are the next stop on Villa’s tour on Saturday.
