Party at Pride Park

Two games, ten goals, none conceded - what a week for the Claret and Blue.
On the back of a fantastic 4-0 victory at home to
Bolton, Villa thrashed dour Derby 6-0 and even Stiliyan Petrov scored.
Goals from Ashley Young, John Carew, Petrov, Gareth Barry, Gabby Agbonlahor and substitute Marlon Harewood gave the away side a comprehensive win to bolster the chances of European football coming to
Villa Park.

Fragile

Derby were simply demolished and suffered in the first half mainly due to a horror show from keeper Roy Carroll.
The former Manchester United stopper, failed to clear Ashley Young's free kick for the opener. The winger was stunned by the goal as he clearly thought someone would get a touch.
John Carew bagged Villa's second of the afternoon almost straight after Young netted.
The big Norwegian picked up the ball and drilled through a group of players to crush the home side.
The already fragile confidence, what little of it exists at
Pride Park was extinguished and it was Carew's control from then on for Villa.
Carroll again lent a hand or rather a foot for the third goal as Stiliyan Petrov, who is about as free-scoring as Scott Carson, finished beautifully.
The midfielder picked up Carroll's poor clearance and chipped the keeper from a full 45 yards.
It was amazing from the Bulgarian who has had a renewed lease of life over the last couple of weeks.
After the break it was one-way traffic once again and the Claret and Blue soon added another goal to their tally.
Skipper Gareth Barry, who was brilliant against
Bolton last weekend, was the man who got it after another Roy Carroll parry.

Magnificent

The hapless home side did force Scott Carson into one save of note as Robert Earnshaw brought the best from Villa's keeper.
However, the natural flow of the game was soon restored as Gabriel Agbonlahor made it five in front of a half empty
Pride Park.
It was almost inevitable that Agbonlahor would get in on the act after he ended his goal drought last weekend.
It was left to the ever magnificent Marlon Harewood to round off the win as the substitute got his customary goal.
Harewood just loves scoring especially on the road and if there was an award for super-sub of the season he would win it.
With
Derby destroyed, Villa were left jubilant and their pre-Bolton demons have definitely now vanished into thin air.
This win against
Derby means ideal preparation for another derby next week - the Midlands variety.
