In an incredible turnaround at the Causeway Stadium, Aston Villa hit seven second-half goals past Wycombe to reach the third round of the Carling Cup despite a shock looking possible at half time as the hosts were leading 3-1.
In an exciting first half Wycombe took the game to their Premiership visitors and took an early lead through their leading goalscorer Nathan Tyson on six minutes when he headed home a superb Danny Senda cross.
Steven Davis applied a clinical finish to a swift counter attack to pull Villa level, but within four minutes Wycombe were back in front when Roger Johnson headed home a corner by Stefan Oakes.
A giant killing looked even more likely when Tommy Mooney stooped to head Wanderers into a 3-1 half-time lead.
However, a remarkable second half saw a free scoring Villa recover their first half deficit through goals from Milan Baros and James Milner before an unfortunate own goal from Wycombe left-back Clint Easton gave the visitors the lead for the first time on the night on 69 minutes.
Once ahead, Villa went into overdrive adding another four goals in the final 16 minutes.
Gareth Barry netted two - one via the penalty spot - before Milner and Davis completed the rout.
